The following will be new teachers at Sunrise. We are excited for them to join the Sunrise family! Each of these teachers are already collaborating with their team of teachers and are anxious to meet their students!

Mrs. Heather Jones - Special Education Teacher Grades Kindergarten - 2nd
I have worked at Arcadia Valley Elementary School since 2015 in special education. I hold certifications in Interdisciplinary Studies 1-6th Grade and Special Education K-12. I have been married for 15 years and have 2 children. My favorite things to do are hiking, fishing, gardening, video games, and reading. My favorite video game character is Yoshi and my favorite book is To Kill a Mockingbird by Harper Lee.
Mrs. Mary Kirkman - Special Education Teacher Grades 3rd - 5th
Mrs. Kirkman resides in the South County area. She has a Master of Arts in Special Education and has taught Special Education for the last 16 years. She has worked in a Functional Life Skills Class, as well as, taught as a Resource Teacher in 6th and 7th grade English Language Arts. She holds certifications in K-12 Mild/Moderate Cross Categorical, B-12 Severe Developmental Disabilities, and Elementary Education 1-6. Mrs. Kirkman loves to spend time with her family. She loves to take vacations, especially to the beach! She is very excited to be joining the Sunrise family.
Mrs. Magan Thompson - Middle School Social Studies
My name is Magan Thompson and I grew up in Park Hills. I am a MAC and SEMO graduate. This year will be my fourth year of teaching. For the last three years, I have taught ELA. When I’m not teaching, I like to craft or binge Netflix with my dog. I am a proud dog mom of a five year old beagle named Jack. He’s the cutest, best dog in the world. Jack and I are super excited to be a part of the Dragon family!
Mrs. Amy Klempert - Middle School Special Education
Mrs. Klempert grew up in the Farmington area and currently lives in Park Hills. She has been married for 25 years and has two adult daughters: one teaches kindergarten, and the other is in college to become an elementary teacher. This coming year will be her 18th year teaching school. She has mostly taught high school level English Language Arts and Special Education. She has a Bachelor’s degree from SEMO in Secondary Education and a Master’s degree from UCM in Library Science and Information Services. She is excited to be a part of the Sunrise family.
Mr. Kyle Smith - Middle School Math
Mr. Kyle Smith, is from Park Hills though he moved around a lot when he was younger. He has a degree in middle school education focusing in math from CMU. This will be his second year teaching middle school math and his goal is to male math as easy to understand as possible. Outside of math he spends his time playing Dungeons and Dragons, card games like Yu-Gi-Oh and Magic, and video games. He also loves to bake cakes and make costumes.
