2020-2021 New Teachers
Welcome to Sunrise!
The following will be new teachers at Sunrise. We are excited for them to join the Sunrise family! Each of these teachers are already collaborating with their team of teachers and are anxious to meet their students!
Mrs. Heather Jones - Special Education Grades 3-5
I have worked at Arcadia Valley Elementary School since 2015 in special education. I hold certifications in Interdisciplinary Studies 1-6th Grade and Special Education K-12. I have been married for 15 years and have 2 children. My favorite things to do are hiking, fishing, gardening, video games, and reading. My favorite video game character is Yoshi and my favorite book is To Kill a Mockingbird by Harper Lee.
Mrs. Magan Thompson - Middle School Social Studies
My name is Magan Thompson and I grew up in Park Hills. I am a MAC and SEMO graduate. This year will be my fourth year of teaching. For the last three years, I have taught ELA. When I’m not teaching, I like to craft or binge Netflix with my dog. I am a proud dog mom of a five year old beagle named Jack. He’s the cutest, best dog in the world. Jack and I are super excited to be a part of the Dragon family!
Mrs. Amy Klempert - Middle School Special Education
Mrs. Klempert grew up in the Farmington area and currently lives in Park Hills. She has been married for 25 years and has two adult daughters: one teaches kindergarten, and the other is in college to become an elementary teacher. This coming year will be her 18th year teaching school. She has mostly taught high school level English Language Arts and Special Education. She has a Bachelor’s degree from SEMO in Secondary Education and a Master’s degree from UCM in Library Science and Information Services. She is excited to be a part of the Sunrise family.
