June 13, 2017

New Teachers!

PK Half Day Teach: Mrs. Jessica Graham jgraham@sunrise-r9.orf

My name is Jessica Graham!  I have been working with preschool children for fun 4 years.  I have my B.S. in Elementary Education with an emphasis on Early Childhood Education from the University of Missouri St. Louis.  I have an amazing husband, Justin, and we have been married for 5 years.  We have twin daughters, Aubrie and Gracie, and they are 3 years old. Together we love to camp, fish, and spend time outdoors.  I am beyond excited to start my new adventure at Sunrise!

PK-8 Art Teacher: Ms. Jessica Nilsen  jnilsen@sunrise-r9.org

Mrs. Nilsen ~ This will be my fourth year teaching elementary/middle school art and I am so excited to be at Sunrise this year. I have a BA in Art Education and a BA in Fine Arts from Purdue University, and an MFA from Southern Illinois University Edwardsville. I also teach at the Saint Louis Art Museum on weekends and during the summer. During my free time I love to read and make art of course! My husband and I enjoy going hiking, and each weekend we go to a different area park. A couple of our favorites are Castlewood and Queeny park. We also spend a lot of time working on our new house - last year we bought a "fixer upper" and we are remodeling it room by room, doing all the work ourselves.

Middle School Social Studies:  Mrs. Alyssa Peanick  apeanick@sunrise-r9.org

I have been teaching for 20 years.  The best part of my job is the connection that is made between a teacher and student.  I look forward to working at Sunrise and the memories that will be made.

Full Day Preschool Para Teacher: Mrs. Katie Brown  kbrown@sunrise-r9.org

Hello! My name is Katie Brown. I have been married for 14 years and have 2 amazing children, Mackenzie and Kenny. I am from St. Louis where I attended Webster University and graduated with a BA in communications. It wasn't until my daughter entered kindergarten that I realized how much I loved helping children learn. I began substitute teaching and did not stop until I had my son. My family and I moved to De Soto in December 2016. We did not know anyone in the area but were quickly welcomed by the people of Sunrise. I look forward to many years with this district. This small community is the perfect fit for us!

K-5 Special Education Teacher: Mrs. Brittany Healy  bhealy@sunrise-r9.org

My name is Brittany Healy. I am a K-5 Special Education Teacher. I obtained a Bacehlor's Degree in Elementary Education with an emphasis in Mild/Moderate Cross-Categorical Disabilities from Harris-Stowe State University in 2015. I currently live in St. Louis with my Husband, our 2 dogs and our cat. In my spare time I love reading, swimming and traveling. I am more than excited to be a part of the Sunrise School team next school year!!

PK-8 Music/Band Teacher: Ms. Lindsey Davis  ldavis@sunrise-r9.org

Lindsey Davis is a first-year teacher and recent graduate of Truman State University. At Truman, she earned a Bachelor of Arts in Music with a minor in Jazz Studies, as well as a Master of Arts in Education.
